What Happens to the Body During Menopause

Menopause looks different for everyone who goes through it. Women can start menopause at a range of ages and experience various symptoms, both physical and mental.

What Is Menopause?

Women produce estrogen hormones from their ovaries throughout their adult life. These hormones are crucial in sexual development and control of the menstrual cycle.

Menopause is when there’s a drop in the level of the hormone estrogen produced by a woman’s ovaries. As a result, you may experience symptoms like:

       hot flashes

       night sweats

       mood swings

       vaginal dryness

       reduced sex drive

Due to menopause, women may also lack energy, experience joint aches, or have difficulty with regular sleep, mood, or memory.

Many of these symptoms usually pass after a few years but can be quite unpleasant. So, if you’re going through menopause and find the symptoms difficult to deal with, you can take HRT as a form of relief.

Using Hormone Therapy (Estradot Patches)

Readily available in the UK, Estradot patches are a commonly used HRT or hormone replacement therapy treatment. Hormone therapy can often be one of the most effective treatments for those frustrating hot flashes and night sweats.

Estradot comes as stick-on patches that contain a hormone called estradiol and are usually in five different strengths.

How To Use Estradot

Your doctor is likely to start you with Estradot 50 patch, and after checking your progress, they may change it to a lower or higher strength. It all depends on your body’s response to the treatment and how well it works.

With Estradot, you’re supposed to have a patch on at all times and change it twice every week. There are eight patches in one package, which are enough for four weeks.

However, HRT should not be used as birth control (because it’s not too effective) or for long-term general health maintenance. And of course, you must consult your doctor before starting this treatment.

Evorel Patches for Menopause Treatment

Similar to Estradot patches, Everol is another brand that you can find in the UK.

Evorel comes in a ‘memory pack,’ which can help you remember when to change your patches. Each pack contains eight patches, and the hormone is spread evenly in each patch. It passes slowly into your body through the skin.

Overall, Estradot and Everol patches are good HRT treatments, and your doctor may prescribe either of these brands to you depending on your individual conditions and needs.
